The Urology Department at Ascires specializes in applying the most advanced, precise, and efficient diagnostic methods and therapeutic techniques.
With a high level of expertise in the early detection of prostate, bladder, and kidney cancer, our therapeutic approach focuses on comprehensive and multidisciplinary uro-oncological care, incorporating state-of-the-art technologies aimed at maximizing functional preservation of organs.
We cover all urological subspecialties, including urinary stone disease, urinary incontinence, and erectile dysfunction, among others. Our care model allows ultrasound, uroflowmetry, and flexible cystoscopy to be performed during the same consultation, enabling a complete evaluation and faster results.
Our Urology team combines high-resolution prostate Magnetic Resonance Imaging (3 Tesla) with transperineal biopsy guided by fusion software. This approach enables more accurate detection of prostate cancer, which:
Provides high-resolution images to identify clinically significant lesions with greater precision.
Combines MRI images with real-time ultrasound, allowing the biopsy to be accurately targeted to suspicious areas.
Advanced Technology for Oncological Treatment
Our medical team is an international reference in the use of this advanced technique, which destroys prostate tumor cells through irreversible electroporation induced by electrical pulses. This approach minimizes functional impact, helping to preserve urinary continence and sexual potency.

Comprehensive Treatment for Urinary Stone Disease
We provide a comprehensive approach to urinary lithiasis (kidney or ureteral stones), combining minimally invasive technology with a personalized preventive evaluation.
Flexible ureteroscopy
With this technique, we access the kidney or ureter through the urinary tract to locate the stone and determine the most appropriate treatment.
High-precision laser
The stone is fragmented into very small particles, allowing it to be eliminated naturally. This is a highly effective, minimally invasive procedure that generally involves a rapid recovery.
Preventive assessment
Once the acute episode has been resolved, and after completing a full metabolic evaluation in accordance with the European Association of Urology guidelines, we develop an individualized prevention plan based on diet, hydration, and pharmacological treatment if necessary.
Commitment to the Patient
At the Ascires Urology Department, we work in coordination with specialists in Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, Medical Oncology, and Radiation Oncology. Together, we provide multidisciplinary and highly personalized care, incorporating the most advanced diagnostic and therapeutic methods available.
Our team is a reference center in the diagnosis and comprehensive treatment of urinary incontinence in both men and women. The unit includes urodynamic testing, pelvic floor physiotherapy and rehabilitation, and botulinum toxin instillations.

The presence of blood in the urine (hematuria) should never be considered normal. It may be caused by urinary tract infections, kidney stones, or benign conditions, but in some cases it can be the first symptom of bladder or kidney cancer.
If the urine appears red or brown, even without pain, it is advisable to consult a urologist for a complete evaluation. This may include laboratory tests, ultrasound, cytology, urinary CT scan, and cystoscopy.
Early detection is essential for effective treatment.
A prostate biopsy is recommended when there is suspicion of cancer, either due to elevated PSA levels or findings on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
Currently, the transperineal biopsy with fusion software, the only approach recommended by the European Association of Urology guidelines, allows samples to be taken precisely from the suspicious areas identified on MRI. This increases diagnostic accuracy, reduces the need for repeat biopsies, and lowers the risk of infection or sepsis associated with the traditional transrectal biopsy
In selected cases of localized prostate cancer, it is possible to apply focal therapies that target only the affected area, avoiding the need to remove the entire prostate and further reducing the functional impact, particularly regarding sexual potency and urinary continence.
In this context, our medical team is an international reference in the clinical use and training of Irreversible Electroporation (IRE), one of the most innovative and safest ablative techniques, which allows tumor cells to be destroyed while preserving healthy structures such as nerves and blood vessels. However, not all patients are candidates for this treatment, so a precise evaluation with MRI and targeted biopsy is required.
Up to half of patients who have had a kidney stone may develop another if the underlying cause is not investigated.
In addition to treating the acute episode using techniques such as ureteroscopy and laser, it is important to carry out a metabolic evaluation to identify alterations in the metabolism of calcium, uric acid, or other components. A personalized plan including hydration, diet, and medical treatment can significantly reduce the risk of recurrence.
Urinary incontinence is a very common functional condition that can significantly affect a patient’s quality of life. Contrary to the common belief that it is something one must simply live with, it can always be treated.
The treatment is multidisciplinary, and its success is based on a comprehensive, detailed, and personalized evaluation for each patient. Once the type of incontinence has been identified—such as stress incontinence, urge incontinence, mixed incontinence, or iatrogenic incontinence—our specialized team can design a complete and individualized therapeutic strategy to achieve the best possible results for each patient, whether male or female
