ServiciosCirugía Torácica

We offer you a minimally invasive thoracic surgical approach, safer and adapted to each case, thanks to our team, pioneers in Spain in video-assisted techniques (VATS), and the most advanced technology. We have the most advanced hybrid operating theatre in Europe, which allows lesions to be located with maximum precision during the procedure, without the need for open surgery.

All of this allows us to effectively treat conditions such as early-stage Lung Cancer, Hyperhidrosis, or arrhythmias resistant to medical treatment, among others. Our thoracic surgery service is specifically focused on providing personalised and safe solutions for each patient.

We are also a reference centre in the comprehensive treatment of thoracic malformations, using the most advanced orthopaedic techniques and personalised 3D prostheses adapted to each patient’s anatomy and needs.

Common Conditions

Conditions Treated in Thoracic Surgery

  • Lung Cancer: one of the most common tumours worldwide and the leading cause of cancer-related death. We offer comprehensive treatment using minimally invasive techniques such as segmentectomy.
  • Pulmonary Metastases: in selected cases, lung surgery may form part of treatment with curative intent.
  • Pneumothorax: pneumothorax may occur secondary to another pulmonary or traumatic condition, or as a condition in itself. It requires medical management by thoracic surgery and, in certain cases, even surgery.
  • Mediastinal tumours: thymomas, cysts or lymphatic neoplasms may require complete surgical resection.
  • Pleural Mesothelioma: cancer related to asbestos exposure that may be treated with thoracic surgery combined with other oncological treatments.
  • Severe pulmonary infections: abscesses or empyemas that do not respond to medical treatment may require surgical intervention.
  • Congenital malformations: such as pulmonary cysts or bronchopulmonary sequestrations that may be treated in adulthood.
  • Thoracic wall malformations and aesthetic conditions: there are a number of thoracic malformations (pectus excavatum or pectus carinatum, Poland syndrome, etc.) that cause aesthetic alterations of the chest in all cases and, in many cases, are associated with cardiopulmonary involvement. The thoracic surgery department offers comprehensive treatment of these conditions in coordination with other services such as paediatrics or plastic surgery.
  • Hyperhidrosis: treated by thoracic sympathectomy in cases that do not respond to other methods.
  • Complex rib fractures or thoracic trauma: may require surgical stabilisation to reduce complications and improve recovery.
