Recommendations During the Test
To ensure effective Holter monitoring and obtain the most accurate results possible, it is important to follow these recommendations while wearing the device:
- Maintain your normal daily routine (unless otherwise advised by your doctor): walk, climb stairs or carry out your usual activities. This allows your heart’s activity to be recorded under normal, real-life conditions.
- Avoid getting the device wet: do not bathe, shower or swim during the monitoring period. The Holter monitor is not water-resistant.
- Do not remove or handle the electrodes or cables: if they come loose, contact the medical staff before attempting to reposition them.
- Keep a symptom diary: note the time and the activity you were doing if you experience palpitations, dizziness, chest pain or any other symptoms. This will help with the interpretation of the test.
- Avoid using creams, oils or lotions on the chest: these products can prevent the electrodes from adhering properly to the skin.
- Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing: this makes it easier to manage the device and helps prevent friction or displacement of the electrodes.
- Stay away from strong magnetic fields or powerful electrical equipment: these may interfere with the device’s signal.
Important: Do not forget to return to the medical centre at the scheduled time for device removal and submission of the recorded data.
