For smokers who wish to understand their lung health but do not meet the clinical criteria for the programme, a consultation with a Respiratory Medicine specialist is recommended. The specialist will assess each case individually and determine whether the test is appropriate.
The Lung Cancer Early Detection Programme is specifically designed for smokers and former smokers without symptoms. In its early stages, lung cancer often does not present any clinical signs.
The aim of the programme is to anticipate and assess your current health status. If a finding is detected, initiating treatment at an early stage can increase survival rates to up to 90% in certain cases.
Stopping smoking is an excellent decision and gradually reduces the risk of lung cancer. However, in individuals who have smoked for many years, the risk may persist for a prolonged period.
For this reason, the Lung Cancer Early Detection Programme developed by Ascires, in line with national and international protocols, is also recommended for former smokers.
The programme lasts approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, including:
You will be supported by our medical and healthcare team throughout the entire process.
An ultra-low-dose CT scan allows the detection of lung abnormalities at an early stage with maximum safety and image quality. The CT used in the Lung Cancer Early Detection Programme delivers up to 90% less radiation than a conventional CT scan
