At Ascires, we are experts in assessing bone mineral density, structural quality, and composition with maximum precision using the Densitometry test.
Thanks to advanced dual-energy bone densitometry equipment, together with the use of the TBS (Trabecular Bone Score) technique, we can assess the risk of bone fractures through the analysis of bone texture.

Densitometry is a quick and painless test used to assess bone mineral density. It can diagnose conditions such as osteopenia (in early stages) or osteoporosis (in more advanced stages), helping to determine the risk of bone fractures and enabling the introduction of preventive treatment to avoid this complication.
This examination is particularly recommended for people with bone or fat-related issues, older individuals with reduced mobility, postmenopausal women, people who practise very demanding sports, and children with developmental problems. It also helps monitor the progress of patients undergoing treatment and prevent complications related to bone health.
It is usually performed on the hip or lumbar spine, as these are common fracture sites.
A densitometry test is recommended for:
The frequency depends on each patient. In general, densitometry is recommended every two years for people at risk of osteoporosis or undergoing treatment, in order to assess progress. In some cases, the doctor may recommend shorter or longer intervals depending on the results and bone health status.
At our hospital, we have a specialised bone densitometry service with state-of-the-art equipment and professionals who are experts in bone health. You can book your appointment through our website or by phone: 963 87 30 50.
