A hospital Radiology Department offers a wide range of medical imaging tests designed to diagnose diseases quickly and accurately. The most common include conventional X-rays, ultrasound scans, MRI, CT and mammograms. More specialised studies are also performed, such as bone densitometry, contrast studies and image-guided interventional procedures.
All these tests are carried out using next-generation equipment, allowing high-quality images with lower radiation exposure, where applicable. Patients can access these tests quickly, either by appointment or through our urgent care services when required.
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Computed Tomography (CT) are two advanced imaging techniques, but they work differently and are used for different purposes. MRI uses magnetic fields and radio waves to generate detailed images of organs, soft tissues and the nervous system, without using ionising radiation. CT, on the other hand, uses X-rays to create cross-sectional images of the body and is especially useful for studying bone structures, lungs and detecting internal bleeding.
In our hospital in Valencia, the CT and MRI equipment uses cutting-edge technology supported by Artificial Intelligence algorithms, guaranteeing speed, safety and comfort for the patient. The choice between one technique or the other depends on the type of condition to be studied, and it is always the specialist who determines which is most appropriate in each case.
Yes, in most cases a medical referral is required for imaging tests such as CT, MRI or mammography. This is because they are diagnostic procedures that require a specific clinical indication, both to determine which type of study is most appropriate and to correctly interpret the results. In addition, some of these tests use intravenous contrast or involve radiation exposure, so they must be performed under medical supervision.
However, there are exceptions. For example, in our private hospital in Valencia we offer preventive check-ups or gynaecological assessments that may include imaging tests, always under the supervision of our specialists. If you have any doubts, you can contact our patient care team directly
The precautions vary depending on the type of test. Tests such as X-rays or ultrasound scans generally do not require specific preparation. However, if you are undergoing an MRI, it is important to inform us if you have metal implants, a pacemaker or if you suffer from claustrophobia. For a CT scan with contrast, you may be asked to come fasting and to inform us about any allergies or kidney problems.
In our hospital in Valencia, each patient receives personalised instructions before attending their test. In addition, we have a team of nurses and radiology technicians who will accompany you throughout the process to ensure your safety and well-being.
Ascires has the ENS certification with the MEDIA category for its medical centers in the Valencian Community and Madrid.
